Social Welfare Department in Govt. of Assam is committed to contribute towards overall development of Women, Children, Person with Disability, Senior Citizen & Infirm People of the Society, as these groups need Special Care & Intervention for their Growth & Development. Over the years, Social Welfare Department undertaken several Programmes/Schemes to strengthen the standard of life of these groups of people covering all Section of Society & State as a whole. The Department of Social Welfare was created vide Govt. Notification No. AR.9/1990/33, dated 19.09.1991.
Mission : To –Improve Nutritional Status of Children, Adolescent Girls, Pregnant & Lactating Mother, Capacity Building through Skill development for Women, Welfare of Senior Citizen, Improve Socio-Economics Status of Persons with Disabilities.
