It is mandatory under Juvenile Justice Act (J.J. Act) that all Institutions whether run by the Government or Voluntary organizations, either wholly or partially for housing Children or running Child Care institutional Services for Children in need of Care & Protection or Children in Conflict with Law (Children Home, Observation Home, Open Shelter, Specialized Adoption Agency, fit Facility or place of Safety) must be registered under sub section (1) of Section 41 of the Act.

A copy of its Registration Certificate under Society Registration Act-1860 or any other Trust, Rules, Bylaws, Memorandum of Association, list of Governing body, List of office bearers, List of trustees, Balance sheet of last three years, statement of past records of social or public service provided by the institutions and a declaration from the authority of the organization or the organization regarding non involvement in any previous conviction or involvement in any immoral act or in any act of Child abuse or employment of Child labour or that has not been black listed by the Central or State Government.
