Assam State Social Welfare Board

The  Central Social Welfare Board with broad objectives of promoting social welfare activities and implementing welfare programmes for women and children through Voluntary Organizations was set up on 12th August 1953. The Board gained its legal status in 1969 and at present is under the Ministry of Women & Child Development, Govt. of India, New Delhi. In order to implement the programmes, there are 33 State Boards across the Country. The Assam State Social Welfare Board was set up in 1954 and since then has been implementing the following programmes:-  

• Family Counselling Centre.
• Short Stay Home.
• Rajiv Gandhi National Creche Scheme.
• Condensed Course of education for Adult Women.
• Awareness Generation Project( No allocation during 2014-15)
• Innovative Scheme.
• Integrated Scheme for Women Empowerment
