Project reach out and respond “সঁহাৰি”

Scholarships to Differently Abled Students and Unemployment Allowances were given to 7638 nos. of beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). A joint initiative of Assam State Legal Service Authority in partnership with Social Welfare Department and Health & Family Welfare Department, Govt. of Assam - “PROJECT REACH OUT AND RESPOND” “সঁহাৰি” was organized by the Department from 4th March, 2017 to 12th March, 2017, whereby various types of Aids & Appliances were distributed to the persons with disability from 5 (five) districts viz. Nagaon, Morigaon, Darrang, Goalpara, Kamrup (M) and Kamrup (R) with the support of Bhagawan Mahabeer Vikalanga Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) and Artificial Limb Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO).

Details of person who benefited through the camp:

  • Prosthetic Limb : 126 Nos.
  • Calipers for Polio Patients : 218 Nos.
  • Crutches: 76 Nos.
  • Hand: 44 Nos.
  • Tricycle: 150 Nos. (57 small and 93 adult) 
  • Wheel chair: 163 Nos. (61 small and 102 adult) 
  • Hearing Aids: 536 Nos. 
  • Stick for blind: 49 Nos.
  • Working Stick: 67 Nos.
  • Auxiliary Crutch : 37 pairs.

Initiative has been taken to create a robust district wise database to enumerate every person with disability along with the details of their area of disability. All the districts have been intimated to expedite the process of data collection.

  1. Total 5418 Nos. of Differently abled persons get benefited Through Unemployment Allowances & total 336 nos. of Families having differently abled member get benefited through Family allowance in the last two financial year in the year 2016-17.
  2. Total 183 differently abled persons get benefitted through Rehabilitation Grants.
  3. Total 816  differently abled students get benefitted through Scholarship
  4. Total 69 differently abled Students (Medical & Technical education) get benefitted through Scholarship
